English Angora Rabbits (“EA”) are the most diminutive of the breeds. Their adult size ranges from 4 to 8 pounds. They produce approximately 12 to 16 oz. of prime fiber per year by shedding, or “blowing” their coat every three months.
EA’s have fluffs of fur on their head, ears and face- referred to as “furnishings”. Their coats are quite soft and downy, relative to the other breeds, even their guard hair is very fine and there is a smaller proportion of it disbursed throughout their coat. Their coats also have the most crimp, introducing a measure of loft and memory.
They do, however, require a substantial commitment of time and attention to care for their coats.
English Angoras are friendly and easy to handle. EA’s are the most affectionate and smallest of the breeds. EA’s produce the best fiber for all-around use due to its lovely crimp, light weight and softness.
